Dikina is 24 years old and lives at home with her Mum, Wendy and wonderful sisters. For the last few years, Dikina has had her mind set on getting her learners driver's license.  All of her sisters (even the younger one) have their drivers licenses and Dikina doesn’t want to miss out!

Dikina needs to get to her place of work early in the morning as well as sometimes working night shifts. Understandably, she feels unsafe catching public transport when she finishes her night shift at 5am so would like to get herself to and from work independently. She also misses out on social and recreational opportunities due to lack of transportation.

Having previously tried to sit for her Learners license, Dikina needs some more support before re-sitting, to help rebuild confidence and have the road code explained orally and visually – a way that works best for her.

Dikina has successfully applied to Fund for Good to get lessons from a tutor who works as a note-taker for university students with disabilities, unfortunately driving schools don’t offer training for learner’s licenses. This should give her the best chance of success to pass the test.

Obtaining her learners will make the world of difference for Dikina. It will help her get to work, social activities and ultimately improve her independence. This will greatly enhance Divina’s self-confidence and self-belief, be a step in the right direction to go flatting and allow Dikina to live her life how she wants.
