Introducing the amazing Nathan Pearson! Nathan loves photography and all things equestrian. His passion for horses began at aged four when he saddled up for riding lessons at Greenhithe Riding for Disabled in Auckland.
Nathan was born prematurely and faced challenges that resulted from cerebral palsy, making him a regular wheelchair user. From a young age riding horses was almost like his weekly physio - Nathan’s Mum Natalie Pearson said she had never seen him sit and stand so straight.
At 20 years old and recently finishing school, Nathan is looking forward to the future. He wants to start up a business that he is passionate about and works with his strengths. Nathan currently volunteers at a pony club and has been travelling to equestrian events. At these events he takes photos of horse riders who often ask if his photos are available to view or purchase. Unfortunately, because Nathan’s current camera set-up is hand-held, he finds it difficult to manage a full day or two-day event because of his physical needs.
With the help of Fund for Good, Nathan has just purchased a custom-built tripod that can be mounted to his wheelchair as well as funding to cover some courses with tutors from Canon and a new laptop to process the photos.
Nathan recently attended Horse of the Year and tested out his new tripod. Check out some awesome photos below:
Equestrian and photography are Nathan’s passions, and he is well on the way to making them his business!
A big congratulations to Nathan, one of our successful Fund for Good recipients. Fund for Good is an innovation program helping to fund special projects and dreams of Manawanui customers which can’t be funded elsewhere.
We are so happy to be able to help Nathan follow his dreams and cannot wait to see what he achieves.
Ka pai Nathan 👏👏
